Kedarkantha winter trek

Overview

Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarakhand, Kedarkantha is renowned for its beautiful winter landscapes, dense forests, snowy campsites and panoramic Himalayan views. The journey begins from Sankri, a picturesque Himalayan village that serves as the base for the trek. The trail gradually climbs through forests of pine, oak and rhododendron, leading to scenic campsites surrounded by towering peaks. The highlight of the expedition is the early-morning climb to Kedarkantha Summit at approximately 12,500 ft (3,810 m). From the summit, trekkers are rewarded with sweeping views of prominent Himalayan ranges and peaks. With a manageable trail, gradual altitude gain and rewarding summit experience, Kedarkantha is particularly popular among first-time Himalayan trekkers looking to experience snow trekking.

• High altitude may cause symptoms such as headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness or breathlessness.
• Participants must immediately inform the Trek Leader if they experience any unusual symptoms or discomfort.
• The Trek Leader may stop a participant from continuing or recommend descent if their condition may compromise their safety.
• Participants must carry their prescribed and personal medicines.
• Basic first-aid support will be available; however, advanced medical facilities may not be immediately accessible in remote areas.
• Emergency evacuation, hospitalization and related expenses are not included unless specifically mentioned.
• Weather, snowfall, trail conditions or medical emergencies may require changes to the itinerary for safety reasons.

• •Stay with the group and do not leave the designated trail without informing the Trek Leader.
• •Respect local communities, culture, wildlife and the natural environment.
• •Do not litter. Carry your waste back or dispose of it only at designated locations.
• •Single-use plastic should be avoided wherever possible.
• •Smoking, alcohol and recreational drugs are strictly prohibited during the trek.
• •Do not damage plants, trees, campsites or other natural surroundings.
• •Maintain discipline and respect fellow trekkers and staff.
• •Participants are responsible for taking care of their personal belongings and valuables.
• •Avoid loud music or behaviour that disturbs wildlife, local communities or other trekkers.
• •Carry a valid government-issued photo ID.
• •The itinerary may be modified due to weather, snowfall, government restrictions, trail conditions or safety concerns.
• •The Trek Leader's decision regarding route, safety, turnaround time or evacuation will be final.
• •Participants must follow Leave No Trace principles throughout the trek.
